Add a Fundraising Thermometer or Goal Tracker to Any Website
A goal tracker does one job: it shows visitors how far along you are and how far is left. That visible progress is why fundraisers use thermometers, why savings challenges use progress bars, and why launch pages show “87 of 100 spots taken.”
This guide shows how to put one on any site with Fugte, what it works well for, and when a dedicated fundraising platform is the better tool.
What people use goal counters for
- Fundraisers: a classic thermometer for a school, church, club, or community campaign
- Nonprofit campaigns: progress toward a donation target on the campaign page
- Savings and challenges: a shared savings goal, a team step challenge, a reading challenge
- Launches: waitlist signups, pre-orders, or seats remaining
- Milestones: subscribers, members, downloads: any number moving toward a target
One starter, two modes
Fugte’s Goal Counter starter has two modes, and the one you pick decides who owns the number.
Goal mode, the default, is the thermometer. You set the target and type the current total, and every visitor sees the same bar. Switch on its contribution form and each submission adds to the total on top of the number you typed, with an optional list of supporters that stays hidden until you choose which fields to show. Count money, people, or anything else, show it as a bar, a ring, or a plain number, and mark milestones along the way.
Tracker mode is for a count each visitor keeps for themselves: a reading challenge, a habit streak, a step challenge. Each person’s number is saved in their own browser, and nothing reaches you.
To set up a thermometer:
- Sign in at fugte.app, open Starters, and choose Use on the Goal Counter.
- In goal mode, set the target, the current total, and what you are counting, then the labels and colors.
- Publish. You get a hosted link and an embed snippet. The link is what Canva and Notion take. The snippet is what WordPress, Webflow, and Shopify take.
When the number changes, you do not re-embed anything. Change the current total in the Customize tab, publish, and every page showing that widget updates from the same link: your website, your Canva page, your Notion doc, all at once.
Embedding it, platform by platform
- Canva websites: Canva does not accept iframe or HTML code, but its Embed element accepts links. Paste your hosted widget link onto the page. (Full walkthrough: How to Add HTML to Canva.)
- Notion: type
/embedand paste the widget link. Works on free Notion accounts. - Shopify: paste the embed into a Custom Liquid section or any page: no app install, no theme surgery.
- WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix: paste the embed snippet into an HTML/embed block.
- Anywhere else: it is a standard hosted embed, so if the platform can show an iframe or a link preview, it can show the tracker.
Honest limits: when to use something else
Fugte’s goal counter adds up two things: the total you type in, and the amounts people enter in its form. That is the right fit for most school, club, community, and personal campaigns, where someone already knows the running total and wants full control over how the tracker looks.
It is not a payments processor. The form records the amount someone says they are giving; it does not charge anyone. If you need the thermometer to rise with each completed online donation, use a fundraising platform with built-in donation processing (Givebutter, CauseVox, and similar). Their trackers sync with their own donation forms. The trade-off is that you are locked into their form, their branding rules, and their page.
A common middle ground: collect donations wherever you already do (PayPal, e-transfer, cash at events, a GoFundMe) and use a Fugte thermometer as the display layer on your own site, updated as totals come in.
For streamers: a hosted widget link also loads as an OBS browser source, so a manually-updated community goal can sit on a stream overlay. For sub/follower goals that update automatically, StreamElements-style tools are the better fit.
FAQ
Is it free? Yes. The free plan includes the goal counter with unlimited views. With the contribution form switched on it counts as a live form, and the free plan runs one at a time. Paid plans raise that and remove the Fugte branding, and $9.99 once removes the branding from a single widget.
Can I run more than one tracker? Yes. Each widget has its own link and its own settings, so separate campaigns get separate trackers.
Can I change the design? Colors, labels, amounts, and text are all editable settings, no code. If you want a different structure entirely, you can generate or paste your own tracker design and Fugte makes its fields editable the same way.
Does it work on mobile? Yes, embeds are responsive and load on the published page like any other content.
Start from the Goal Counter starter and set your goal, or read the Goal Counter page first, including what each mode does. Editing the numbers afterwards costs nothing, and that is the part you will do every week.
